Hey All,
Long time no update eh?
We met up with Rob's Mum and Dad in Vancouver (after a lot of missing each other as neither mine nor Rob's phone worked out there!). We cycled around Stanley Park which was pretty good seeing as we had done next to no exercise at that point. The best activity we did was to visit Grouse Mountain which Sandy appropriately wore sandles to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was a lot of snow on those mountains and it was very cold. We watch a lumberjack show which was very entertaining and saw the top of a bear in its enclosure.
After leaving Vanc we headed off on a 7 hour drive to Jasper. Now how to describe this quaint little town? Well put it this way Sandy was nearly moved to tears when after seeing teenagers palying a harmless game of frisbee, the local police woman cycled by with some of the residents. It is so picturesque and beautiful there it really is quite hard to explain. Expensive though as it is a big tourist spot.
We for once have had nice weather and got to do some good outdoor activities. Rob and I went horse riding which was easier than I thought it would be. We also went canoeing on the bluest lake we have ever seen. We were doing well up until Rob decided he WANTED to capsize and alarmed a concerned passer by who ran to the operator of the canoe hire to inform them someone had fallen in. I had to explain that my husband was in no dager and just a wally! What will I do with him eh?!!!
We went to visit the icefields. These were amazing once you got to appreciate just how much they have receded due to global warming. They are shrinking fast. This time Sandy wore trainers but still fell. I rushed to her aid, her husband laughed and her good son told her to hang on while he got the camera. Men!!!
The next day Rob Ross and myself went white water rafting whilst Sandy shopped. I chose to sit at the back (driest) part of the boat. Rob got the first face full of water which was very funny to myself and the girl I was next to. Ross also got splashed. The guide tried to get me wet but failed. Rob and Ross therfore threw me in the lake at the end of the trip and the water was freezing. We do have pics but not on the digital camera so those will have to wait I'm afraid.
Sandy was very sad to be leaving Jasper but that soon faded once we arrived at Ross' friend Rogers house. He met us at the Edmonton mall which wasn't as impressive as I had believed it to be. It's by far bigger and better than bluewater but all the shops are really the same and I'm sure I'd get bored of it after a few visits. Roger lives 2 hours from Edmonton. It is a big house by a lake with huge land outside the back door. It realy is so beautiful, miles away from anywhere but lovely all the same. We were taken out on his boat and today I went out on the lake in a canoe. His wife Kim is absolutely lovely and has fed us very well and made us feel very welcome. We definately want to come back!!!
Sandy and Ross left us today to return back to UK which was very sad. It seems like they only just got here. 9 days is by far not ong enough to explore Canada. Hopefully they will update us on how their journey went on the message board. Hope it was a good flight you two!!!
Tomorrow we leave for Saskatoon to see Gordo, then its off to Calgary.
Take care all and keep messaging us!!!
Lots of love and maple syrup

A couple of extra points from Rob.
1. Thank you for the birthday greetings
2. Andy - We bought a nice red wine, white wine and a Baileys type cream but nicer from Kaikoura Winery. I can happily repot that they were very tasty we only finished the red last night.
3. Mum and Dad - Our lazy day was very good but once Roger returned the two of us built the platforms for the dance floors so we had a fair bit of work - although we agreed Dad should have been there to help.
Bye
Rob
