Hello everybody,
We have had a busy week since the last blog and have covered around 1000km which has been pretty exhausting! We are currently staying at Joels and Becky's place in the centre of Calgary. Tomorrow we leave for Banff and start the long drive back to Vancouver.
After leaving Roger and Kims' we drove to Saskatoon where we stayed with Jen's 4th(ish) cousin Gord and his wife Debbie. The drive was a long one and it was pretty boring there really is not much in the way of scenary during the route. However Saskatoon itself was very nice. We meet their daughter Amy who had her 25th birthday whilst we were there which was pretty cool. Whilst there Gord made us many delicious meals which would be hard to beat in any restaurant and as several of you have reminded us it has encouraged us to start dieting as a matter of urgency.
In Saskatoon we visited a museum of the area, walked around the city and mall, practiced our baseball hitting in a decent net. It blinking stun when we hit them! Also we can highly recommend Saskatoon berries.
On the Thursday we visited their log cabin which was about 1.5 hours north of the city in the middle of nowhere. The nearest house was a couple of miles away whist the local town consisted of a church, a store and a cafe along with six houses!!!! The place was incredibly peaceful. The log cabin itself was good fun. We sent a stupid amount of time playing horseshoes which I know Suzy and Chris would have loved as well as Grandad. Gord also had a quad which we took out into the hills again miles from any civilization and a two person canoe which almost led us to getting divorced a serious case of too many cooks, in retrospect it was good fun though.
We left the cabin on Saturday (after practicing with Gords rifle!!!) and drove to Calgary it took about 7 hours and was if possible even more boring than the previous drive into Saskatoon seriously there is NOTHING inbetween the two cities!!!!!!
Joel made dinner which you can tell he inherited from his Dad. Today we walked around the city and stumbled upon the cities Gay Pride festival which was rather intersting to say the least. In the afternoon we played softball I hit a home run so thinking of going pro if the right offer comes in. Spent most of the evening playing a range of board games.
Off to bed and getting ready for the next few busy days. Will update whenever we can.
Hope you are all.
Love Rob and Jen
P.S. Hamilton for the Championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.P.S. Neither of us now have phones so don't try to text or phone. Use email as main contact. I will try and buy a new phone next week in the States until then we will call home when we can.
