Had to check my last postcard to see when i'd last written! So, since last wrote made it to Puerto Lopez for a couple of days- travelling with 2 canadian couples. The coast was beautiful - overcast weather but hot and the sea a lovely temp. Had a boat trip over to Isla de las Plata - and saw whales!! very exciting, spent about 30 mins alongside 3 adults and a calf - pretty special stuff. On the isalnd we saw blue footed boobies (birds!) which are only found over here - then managed a bit of snorkelling - tough life! Then, overnight stop in Guayaqul en route for Riobamaba and then here. Five hour bus ride to Riobamba to do the 'Nariz del Diablo' (Devils Nose) train ride - sitting on top of the train through spectacular scenery. Was extremely cold initially as started at 7am (bit like sitting for an hour on a ski lift!), but then warmed up. From there, 6 hour bus ride to Cuenca, so spending the day exploring as not a lot going on as sunday. Tomorrow I have the fun jobs of getting my clothes washed ( they really do need it now), visiting the bank and doing boring admin stuff - then hopefuly for a day trekking in the nearby national park. then its time to once again head back to Guayaquil for my Galapagos trip on thursday- very exciting! love to everyone jenxx
