BANGKOK-BOUND BY BOAT AND BUS
DAY 71: Koh Tao to Bangkok
One final panoramic view of the sea at breakfast, then we were off - back to Bangkok where we would have one more night before embarking on our long, 19 hour trip home.
We had to wait at the small, but busy jetty for our catamaran, where all the locals are shouting 'Taxi boat? Taxi boat?' at you, even though you are quite clearly waiting for a ferry. We were hoping for a much smoother journey than the outbound one, and our prayers were answered. It didn't even feel like we were on water it was that calm. I'd say it was the calmest boat journey I've ever had, but Kelly starting taking the mick out of me in Vietnam for saying things like that, so I'm not going to. But it was. They also played the film, 'Get him to the Greek' which we watched on our flight to LA. Luckily so, as we couldn't hear it. It's still funny, even without audio.
We waited for our bus at Chumporn in the sweltering heat, and then boarded for our seven hour journey back to Bangkok. The bus was air conditioned and wasn't that busy so it was a pleasant enough trip, although I could see or hear the movies this time (see my view in the picture). So I resorted to the trusty iPod for Starsky and Hutch and the first third of Semi-Pro before the battery ran out. Also spent a lot of time writing the initial copy for my website which was exciting, and took my mind of the fact our trip is nearing the end. Soon enough we were back in Khao San Road, we checked back into Rikka, had a Maccas and hit the sack.
