Hong Kong
We got a bus to the airport for our flight to Hong Kong. When we went through security they didn't like our mosquito bite clicker and it had to have a second trip through the machine but we got to keep it. There was severe wind and rain so our flight was delayed but not a problem; we just watched a movie on our new netbook!
When we got to Hong Kong we were hit with a blast of ridiculously hot air and it was night time! Got a bus to Kowloon and walked a short distance to our hostel. Our hostel is in building 83 on the 14th floor, room 1415, sub room 25! It is a weird but wonderful set up. As space is so expensive in Hong Kong one building will house businesses, hostels and homes altogether. Our bathroom is so small the shower is over the toilet. The next two days in Hong Kong were spent sight seeing.
On Saturday we went to see the big Buddha on Lantau Island. We got the metro to the island and then we had to take a long bus ride up to the Buddha because the cable car was under maintenance. The Buddha was amazing; it is the largest outdoor Buddha in the world. After the Buddha we go the tram to Hong Kong Island and went on the longest escalator in the world. In reality it isn't one long escalator but lots of shorter ones that are connected by walkways. At the end of the escalator we took a walk through the Botanical Gardens towards the peak tram which has been running since 1888 and took us up to The Peak which has spectacular views over Hong Kong. We got to The Peak before sunset and watched the city turn on all its lights. After the super views we had dinner at Bubba Gump's Restaurant which has taken its influence from the film forest Gump.
On Sunday we got the star ferry to Hong Kong Island and then caught a tram the full length of the island for 2 Hong Kong dollars which is less than 20p! We then got the star ferry back to Kowloon and watched the largest light show in the world.
