Viva Las Vegas!!
What can we say but oh my god, Laura and Dom stay at the Bellagio, we bus in on a 15 hour Greyhound and stay on the famous Freemont Street (where it all began) in the area full of druggies and homeless people....beautiful! BUT...the hostel had a pool and free pancake breakfast, who are we to moan?!
So those that have been to Vegas can appreciate it when we say we walked the whole strip....oh yes, from our hostel all the way up via the wedding chapels (we refrained from getting married) and hotels to Luxor and back down again. We stopped for free shows/entertainment (including Fat Elvis who couldn't actually stand up!) and quick visits to the toilets in the posh hotels!
The hotels are amazing, the Bellagio and Ceasers Palace are just fantastic, especially the shops attached (Dior/Gucci/Channel) just a shame we were window shopping (no people, we didn't blow our budgets!) However, due to a problem with Internet banking we thought we had no money left so lived on jam sandwiches for two days..yum! The Bellagio fountain show was great...just a shame about the music "God love America, the Greatest Nation on the Earth!" We saluted and sung with tears in our eyes!
We couldn't get all this way and deny ourselves of another bus journey, so we took the 4 hour trip (each way) to the Grand Canyon. We dressed in our normal practical way of shorts and flip-flops, ideal for the rain and snow! (Oh yes, it did snow, hence the yellow macs the tour guide gave us) OH MY GOD!! It was amazing. Takes your breath away. We had 3 hrs there so got to walk 2 miles along the south rim (7000ft high). We had no idea the sheer magnitude of it. We have no idea what we thought it would look like but it was alot bigger than the cartoon image we had in our minds (Roadrunner is misleading!) The whole thing was just sooooo cool but cant be put into words, so took a million photos instead, it is honestly as though you are looking at a backdrop. Awesome!
We went to the Stratosphere and saw a show where the comedian actually referred to us as "hoochy mamas" and also went on the ride Insanity at the top where you are swung over the edge 1200ft high, pretty cool but mighty nippy (again in the practical clothes of boobtube and shorts!)....Yes Uncle Tel and Uncle Tom, your wimps!!! :0)
If this wasn't enough excitement for you, we nearly peed our pants when we saw the 4 storey M&M shop....oh yes!! Every colour M&M, including peanut butter flavour, which Jenna fell in love with so if anyone sees the orange wrapped M&Ms (which we have now been searching for everywhere!) could you please forward onto us. Cheers.
Viva Las Vegas, we love it!!!!!!!!!
