"Welcome to Hollywood!...What's your Dream?!"
We did it. We Greyhounded the whole of America from coast to coast! Go team us! It was emotional, we met tramps (Denise actually sat next to one...although apparently he wasn't a tramp, just liked living outdoors...for 6 years!), drug addicts and gangster rappers (no joke, he wrote us rap in our note pad!) Westside! But we wouldn't have done it any other way...well maybe Business Class!
So, the lovely Paul. We thought the Grand Canyon was a wonder, then you came along!!! People, this man is our saviour. Just when we thought we couldn't handle another night in a hostel, Paul put us up in a 4* hotel for two nights, it rocked! No joke, we had a double bed each, 2, I repeat, 2 bathrooms, dressing area, desk, settees and access to the pool and hot tub. Then, if it cant get any better, he took us out for steak, we probably ate half a cow each and then three desserts in a posh restaurant in Sunset Blvd. We even saw Ash from Eastenders (who was a rude pratt!) Was a great couple of days, with great company, thank you dude!!
Ok ok, California...well... we obviously had to go to Hollywood, see the sign, Kodak Theatre, The pavement with the Stars and the Chinese Theatre. We weren't that impressed but "We have the same size hands as Marilyn Monroe" (and therefore each other...never realised that after 10 years of friendship!). Things perked up slightly when we hit Rodeo Drive and saw the Regent Beverly Wilshire...yes the Pretty Woman hotel! Denise thought she had died and gone to heaven with all the designer shops. Just fantastic! We couldn't resist doing the Pretty Woman Strut, hence the photos (sorry Paul...you know you loved being a photographer really!!). Also had to have a little look in Tiffanys, picked out our wedding rings...all we have to do now is find the men!!
After a couple of days in Hollywood we had to come back to reality and go to the hostel in Santa Monica....it was actually quite nice but wasn't quite up to the posh standards that we'd become accustomed to!! Well any trip to California wouldn't have been complete without a day in Universal so our last day was spent there. It rocked, we did all the rides (including the Mummy, sooo cool and Jurassic Park...we screamed so loud children actually sniggered at us) and saw most of the shows. Hungout with a few celebrities, i.e. Shrek and Sponge Bob Square Pants and Sponge Bob actually got fresh with us and tried to grope our boobs can you believe it! We decided as it was our last night we had to be All American and go to Hard Rock for bugers...when the plates arrived and we complained that there weren't enough chips we realised we'd been in America for way too long and had to leave before obesity struck!!!
All in all America rocked we loved it! We made it coast to coast and were mighty proud of our achievements...we'd even made it 6 weeks without arguing...until the final morning when we had a big barney...over raisin bran...whose says our friendship is fickle!!!???? In the end we decided to be mature and forget our differences and made up over frozen yoghurt!!
GOD SAVE AMERICA THE GREATEST NATION ON THE EARTH...whatever, on to Fiji!!
