Well we have been back in Buenos Aires for one night only.....had to come back via here to go to Santiago, Chile where we are headed in a couple of hours. We spent our last day going to see La Boca which is an area of town where all the houses are painted in really bright colours and there are dancers everywhere- 4 people in our hostel had been robbed at gunpoint there last week so we didn´t go much off the beaten track but wandered up the main streets and stopped for a coffee and to watch the tango in the streets that was everywhere. It is also the area of the football stadium so there were Maradona figures everywhere and murals all over the walls as well as kids with amazing skills kicking a ball around in the streets.
In the evening we went to the Japanese garden which was amazing with huge Bonsai trees that must be hundreds of years old. We ate amazing sushi in the restaurant there and then Nic´s boyfriend Daniel picked us up and we went to see a Tango show. The dancing was just amazing- the show was a display of how Tango has developed from the slow, austere, upright dance that is the original one to the modern fast moves where the bloke spins the lady around endlessly and does scary things like throws her from above his head down to the floor! It was great to go and see it and made me slightly regret that we hadn´t been for a lesson whilst we were here- I think I picked most of it up though! (only joking I am so hopelessly uncoordinated Charles probably wouldn´t be able to walk for days after I had stamped on his feet repeatedly!)
Anyway as I said we are going to jump on a flight to Chile this afternoon and we´re really looking forward to it- Buenos Aires has been good but we perhaps have spent a little too long here and it will be great to be somewhere different...
