Rockin' all over the world
....we headed strayt to the backpacker district on the lake, spent an even more horrific day at s21 the genocide prison/museum, where the walls and floors are still covered in blood after being a torture camp for years. and the killing fields where there are more bones than you could imagine.
so to cheer ourselves up we had a "happy herb" pizza! thats right HAPPY HERB! which after taking a rather long time to take effect turned out to be absolutely hillarious! we had just got back to the room and led on the bed when it kicked in and i giggled myself to sleep convinced that my arms had just gained 2 tonne in weight cos no matter wot i did they would not lift up!
we headed to the coast to sihanoukville which was just basically ran by french stoners, every bar was owned by weed-smokin french families, we enjoyed our 1st full moon party, led on big double beds on the beach listening to thumping music amongst big neon lights, awesome!
we spent another day here, on the beach with the local kids who were just hillarious! they had never been to school and had learnt all their english from toursists, they were smarter than any english kids their age and had admirable moral values, they were just incredible.
on our return to phnom penh we spent an evening watching the sunset and having drinks over the lake and then set off to catch our bus the next morning, with my huge backpack on my back and 2 bags in my hand i tripped up on the rocky road, fell over like a sack of s*** and ripped ahuge hole in my best trousers and rather worse my knee, 3 weeks later, the scab has only jsut come off and i am scarred for life!!! it gave jem a laugh tho!
man im sorry this is so long - im nearly done promise. ok so next we got to siem reap home of the angkor temples and one of the best things iv ever seen, up there with the taj and the great wall, we spent 3 days tuk tukking round the temples, getting up at 4am twice to see 2 incredible sunsets and climbing one hell of a hill 2 see the sunset over angkor wat ( 4 any of you who dnt know what im taking about its the temples from tomb raider!)
every day and each temple was more just as awesome as the last and it is so untouristified i loved it, at times, it was just me & jem! il update my fotos soon so u can appreciate it.
well, it was nearly xmas, the 23rd wen we left on the bus to bangkok, for what is supposedly the worst journey in asia - we were so crammed into this bus it was a tiny 20 seater minibus, holding 25 people and all their backbacks (there was no boot) and cambodia has THE bumpiest roads, tarmac has not reached there yet! and i ahd to hold the seat in front of me off of my bloody knee for 7 hours. when we finally reached the border we had to queue for 2 hours to get through, but waiting for us the other side was the most beauiful, luxurious bus i have ever seen!!! it had velour seats, and foot stands, and aircon and tellies - it was amazing, all the way to bangkok, and this time although there was still 25 people there were 50 seats!
