Habari (welcome in Kisahili), loving it here, we've already done so much and met so many people. Think we're getting a true flavour of kenya, we've had meals with a couple of Kenyan families who Aunty Hazel and Uncle JOhn know. Judith one of the Kenyan girls we have met is coming over to ours this week for a meal which will be good. Aunty Hazel and Uncle John are going home this week so we are moving up in the world, into a house with a shower that runs hot water rather than staying in our 4* cow shed, washing in a bucket with luke warm water or water brought to us from the fire if we are lucky. Mind you compared to some of the homes we've been to even that is luxury. We've been busy visiting a number of schools and nurserys- many of the children there are orphans, some as young 8 are forced to look after their young baby brothers or sisters, some of which are as young as 3 months old, whilst still going to school and finding food-the staple meal is ogali which is like a sort of hard porridge, which for many is their only meal of the day.
We're going to be visiting and working with women with aids this week and working with the homehelp staff. Think we might also be going out in the fields and seeing how the farming is done out here, and maybe giving a hand. We'll be walking long distances about 5 miles or more a day, it's either that or getting the ride of our lives in a matatu (the plane journey it's self was bumpy and exciting enough it's self-had a bit of turbulance-better than a ride at Alton Towers).
We'll keep you updated and put up lots of pictures soon. Take care everyone and keep the messages coming, they make us smile! LOts of love Bridg and Jos.x
