Around the World Forever
Today I left Belize and entered Guatemala. Back to speaking spanish again. It is an AMAZING country ... amazingly cheap too. I went to the ATM machine for the first time and had no problems. I was so happy it worked, I took out $100 Quetzales, grabbed my money and card, and then headed down the road with a big smile on my face. Then I realized I just took out like 12 bucks and had to go back and do it again to get more. I found a great hostel on the island of Flores. There are private rooms available but the dormitories are cheaper and more sociable. When I say cheap, I mean it ... a bed here is 25Q per night, or $3.12 US. In Belize, I got $2BZ for every american dollar but prices were steep. Here in Guatemala, I get 8Q for every dollar and things cost almost nothing. A can of coke is is about 40 cents US, and a beer about a dollar or so. So you can see how budget friendly Guatemala is going to be. I went to dinner with the canadian girl in the bunk next to mine and then met up with the Israeli girls to play cards. We played ¨********¨ again in the central park and invited a few others. Ironically enough, while playing ********, a bird took a **** on my head. Ughhh. So that was the joke of the evening with everyone else, Ha ha, look at the American - leader of the free world - with bird **** on his head.
I said goodbye to Michal and Hila from Israel. We´ve been on the same travel route so far but tomorrow they are moving on and I may not see them again. I am probably going to stay here a few days since it is Semana Santa (holy week) and finding a place to stay is difficult over the Easter holiday.
