The flight from the States to Mexico was full of wealthy Americans, who can be just as rude and inconsiderate as posh Brits. We had a bunch by us who appeared to own the aircraft, or at least acted like they did! I stuck my ear-plugs in straight away, which cuts out 99% of the annoying yawping, but doesn't help when some little get is swinging on the back of your seat. I reckon that's what caused 9/11, someone just got pushed too far by having a little brat repeatedly kicking the back of their seat, or some idiot in the seat in-front reclining it into their lap!
The car-hire guy at the airport was surly, until he realised we were Brits, and not Americans, he liked us then, and wanted to chat about football, never mind that we were at the wrong counter! We eventually found the right place, and picked up our shed of a car, which was a Dodge Saloon. A Dodgem car would've been more appropriate, the way Mexicans drive, as we soon found out!
Our first billet, in San Jose Del Cabo, was nice, and there was a special party night on while we were there. There was food, DJ's, and a band. It was mostly locals attending, and it looked quite a 'South Liverpool'-type trendy crowd. At one point, a bunch of skinny WAG type girls disappeared into one of the rooms, accompanied by a gang of blokes who looked 'connected', and the blinds were drawn. They eventually reappeared later looking 'refreshed', I think you know what I'm saying here!
We drove to our current lodgings yesterday, via Highway M19, which appeared to be one long set of roadworks, and to keep the traffic flowing, they appear to be working on the roads while you're actually driving on them! 'Traffic Flow Management Facilitators', as they'd probably be called in the States, or blokes with flags, directed you to speed up or slow down, by waving their flags in an agitated manner. But as they were all dressed as bandits, with big hats, sunglasses, and scarves around their faces, it could've been an attempted hijack!
It was worth the journey, though, as the place we're in now, Rancho Pescadero, in Todos Santos, is just perfect. I'm typing this while sitting in a swinging chair, on our terrace, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and there's no-one kicking the back of my seat!
