Another early start for the short flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, courtesy of Cambodia Angkor Air (half-owned by Vietnam Airways). It was a pleasant flight (on a ATR-72, 'plane fans), and surprisingly free of children going up and down the aisle trying to sell you stuff ( 'you buy something, one dollah'). We got a snack and a drink in a little cardboard box, which pleased Sal no end, she was even more pleased when I managed to spill the drink down my shorts. Thank goodness for the ubiquitous 'refreshing towelette'!
Arrived at the hotel, the Pavillion D'Orient, which is another cracker, up there with La Residence in Hue. After freshening up, we hired a tuk-tuk (little trailer with seats, pulled by a moped) to take us downtown! We hit the Night Market, which consisted of stalls selling t-shirts, Khmer scarfs (still fashionable, despite being part of the official Khmer Rouge wardrobe), and Tiger Balm (called Angkor Balm, here), that's the gift shopping sorted then!
The only stalls that weren't selling the above items were either offering massages, or fish foot spa baths. I quite fancy a massage, but I'm not sure about the fish thing, the little fish all look a bit tired and listless, maybe I'll just wait 'till I get home, and see if our goldfish'll do it for me!
