South again, on HWY 1, from San Simeon to Santa Barbara, we've hooked the iPod up now, so we can stop listening to George Benson, after the tenth repeat, it was getting a bit boring!
Eating sensibly here is difficult, and longer we're in the States, the tighter our clothes are becoming. We realised, one day last week, that our 'fruit and veg' intake that day had been one glass of orange juice, and a dill pickle inserted in a beef sandwich! We'd eaten at a rib'n'burgers grill, the night before, not a place for vegetarians, or fans of fine dining, for that matter.
When we were walking in, Sal thought the bloke shouting out meal order numbers was a bingo-caller!
We stopped at one of the road-side fruit stalls and bought a big tray of strawberries to quench our craving for fruit. Maybe it'll be easier to choose a 'healthy option', meal-wise in South California. Either way, it's back on the shakes for a while when we return home!
Santa Barbara, our next stop, was a nice place, without being outstanding. We had a nice day, the morning spent visiting the old 'mission', and the afternoon on the beach, very nice! We stayed in a traditional USA-style motel, which had been brought up-to-date with contemporary decoration and furnishing. Next stop, Santa Monica, LA...

Barrie Halo, Halo,Halo has Sally Anne been at the 'Blue Nun' again. Or is it a case of a wing & a prayer. You must snap out of the Habit, and enjoy the holiday, forget the diet till you get home. I can see you now running accross the mountains, singing, ......The Hills are alive with Music.
