The transfer to the car-hire place was great, cruising the streets of San Francisco, to a soundtrack of cool jazz courtesy of the bus driver. Collecting our hire car was unexpectedly easy, too, given how hard it had been in Canada, where the same company had been useless.
The 'Lewis Carroll' themed B&B (as opposed to the 'Andy Carroll' themed British pub next door) we'd booked turned out to be another cracker. Next day, we hit the famous Monterey Aquarium. We were going to stay for a couple of hours, but it was so good we stayed all day! Sharks, sea horses, murres, octopus, sea otters, it had the lot! What we don't know about Sea Otters now ain't worth knowing. They eat 25% of their body weight in food, each day, you know! More fascinating sea otter facts later!
