We arrived in Salta at the beginning of a holiday weekend, and there was loads going on, although we found out mostly by accident, as the staff at Argentinian Tourist Information Offices all seem to have been on a Counter Intelligence course, they were giving NOTHING away!
We spent a lovely day in Salta, listening to music, looking at the dancers, mooching 'round the craft market, watching the gauchos, visiting the cathedral and museums, and generally enjoying the bustling holiday atmosphere. Got a free evening meal, too, due to the travel company making a cock-up on our pick-up at Salta airport, so we had huge steaks for tea!
Salta was a lovely town, and we could've easily spent longer there, but we're driving the Ande's next, on to Cafayate...
