A shaky start! An hour and a half getting through immigration and customs. Limo driver took us to the wrong Hilton, cost us an extra 15 bucks to get to the right one and Auntie Jean lost all the vouchers for our trips from here to Hong Kong after leaving the folder in the luggage trolley! To be fair I should have noticed and we were both knackered.
However, today has been good: A leisurely start and then we toured the city on an antique trolley car, followed by lunch in a lovely little chinese restaurant in Chinatown. A stroll back to the hotel was further complemented by a couple of glasses of wine in the very posh urban tavern bar.
Tomorrow is Alcatraz and a tour of the city and if there's time we'll also swing by the aquarium.
Nothing planned for Wednesday but we may end up in Napa Valley for some picturesque experiences and some wine tasting (as this is a very new and different opportuntiy for us!!)
Thursday is L.A. Do you think they are ready for us?! Hope all is well back home and we shall keep you posted!

Kay You can't factor in immigration men and taxi drivers into your plans! Enjoy your visit! Best wishes from sunny but windy isle of Lewis!
Katie Looking forward to reading all about it. Enjoy the adventure.
Geoff Now you're rolling! Have a good time in L.A. and enjoy the wine. I take it that you missed the hurricane on the East Coast?
muriel mcdougall Hi you two. Shaky start but you are there and it sounds so brilliant. Hope you can manage to get the vouchers for all the trips. What a lovely way to see San Francisco on an antique trolley car!! Alcatraz should be fab can't wait to hear about that. Just don't leave Craig in there Jean! Enjoy and we look forward to hearing more. Love Muriel and Alistair
Stuart Not the best start, but at least they let you in at the border. Did they ask you about any Communist links? Enjoy Napa Valley with all your senses.
Gillian Sounds like you have had a great day. It made me think back to our trip to San Francisco - and wished I was back! I really enjoyed Alcatraz - hope you do too.
Muriel Glad you are over your shaky start. You should try to get to Napa Valley, very beautiful and so is the wine!
