Left DaLat on the 3pm bus after a wonderful morning walking round the lake - about 7km.  Air was crisp and the temperature perfect - a bit like the French Alps in summer.  The previous evening had been a bit unsatisfactory as we decided to have supper with 4 others we'd met on the day tour.  Company was fine but the meal (at Vbar) dreadful - ah well, win a few lose a few.
Arrived in Nha Trang at around 7pm & checked in to the oasis that is Novotel.  They all looked abit askance as we trudged in each bearing 2 rucksacks & looking a bit dusty from the journey but soon stood to attention when we went into 'hotel mode'.
Today was great - eventually.  Rented a boat (and guide) to take us to the islands.  Boat engine wouldn't start.  Stood like lemons on the shore for 40 minutes while 3 of them went round in circles offshore - spluttering and dying - the engine too.  Normal service was resumed when B went purple, blew a fuse and demanded to be taken back to the hotel.  Miraculously a working boat was procured and the guide spent the rest of the day checking that we were ok.
B went for a dive - ok visibility but worth doing just to say he'd dived in Vietnam.  J snorkelled and sunned herself.
Tomorrow we fly to DaNang...
