I slept in late again today and by the time I was ready for the day it was around lunch time. Raquel and I walked to Dam Square and to the big Albert Heijn (a grocery chain) behind the palace. We packed a picnic and found a quiet canal to enjoy it by. The hours passed by just enjoying each other's company and the beauty of this amazing city. One of the local foods we tried are these indescribably delicious little waffles (I believe they're called stroopwaffels) that have a sweet maple-syrupy flavor. We eventually got up and started exploring the city again. We failed to find the big I AMsterdam sign but instead we found this amazing street around the corner from our hostel. The whole length of the street is lined with restaurants of nearly every cuisine and walking down it at twilight with the lights sparkling felt like I was trekking around the globe in just a few minutes. We wound up spending the night much like the last, sitting by a canal and talking, captivated once again by the charm of Amsterdam. I closed my eyes and let my mind wander freely through time and space until sleep finally came and overtook me.
