We awoke to another hot, sunny day in Venice. After grabbing food from the co-op, me and Carson jumped on the bus to the main part of Venice. We followed a new path today, taking us further north along a street lined with shops. Wanting to escape from the crowds of tourists, we deviated from the main street just a block or two and suddenly it was like stepping into a different world. A few boats drifted lazily by, not the touristy gondolas seen in the main part of Venice but just normal people going about their everyday lives. It was so beautiful and serene that we ended up sitting on a bridge over one of the canals for an hour or so just talking and enjoying the scenery. Eventually we entered back into the crowds and followed along, window shopping as we went. We wound up back at San Marco Square where we sat by the water and gazed out to the islands in the distance, dotted with churches and homes. We started making our way back and decided to stop by the pizza place we tried yesterday. We each got a slice of a pizza fresh out of the oven and sat down on the street corner, excited to taste what would surely be a delicious pizza. For God knows what reason, they put tuna fish on it. Advice to everyone else, don't put tuna on a pizza, it's disgusting. We returned to the campsite and went for a swim in the pool to cool us off. The rest of the evening was spent playing cards at the bar next to the pool and meeting a couple of other travelers before we made it back to our cabin and were off to sleep. It was great seeing a different side of Venice today, one that I could picture myself living in!

John Jay. One pf the earliest childhood memories that I have is in Venice. I was about five years. I would love to see all the pictures from your travels. I look forward to seeing you next week.
