The last few hours I spent in Amsterdam were short but sweet. Raquel and I got around to some souvenir shopping and then lunch in Chinatown at a restaurant with a sign stating 'where the Chinese go'. They weren't lying, we were the only non- Asian customers in the place. We spent the rest of our time just hanging out by a canal and talking (it's become part of our daily schedule by now). I connected with Raquel in a way that I can't explain and after only a couple days, it feels like I've known her for years. I certainly hope this isn't the last time we'll see each other! After a sad goodbye, I was off to the train station and then on my way to Bruges. A short ride later, I was walking through the streets of this picturesque town. I walked through Markt, the city's main square, while the 83 meter Belfry tower loomed overhead and medieval buildings surrounded me. Down a side street through Burg, the city's administrative heart, and eventually I wound up at my hostel, Charlie Rockets. The entire downstairs is a bar and I awkwardly stood there with my backpack until someone beckoned me to the little reception desk around the corner. I checked in and headed up to my room and immediately met my roomies, a couple of guys from all over the world. They had brought up some beers so we ended up spending the night in the room, drinking, talking and playing games. It was a very welcoming first night in a new city!
