Easter Saturday
We have some new guests – Bill and Sharon from the States and Julie and her son Ryan
from Houston. They are from opposite ends of the spectrum!! Bill is quite a nervous, fast talking, hand waving kind of man, very nice and interesting. Sharon is also a very nice person, a teacher and really sweet and again, interesting. I like them a lot.
Julie on the other hand is a complete pain in the arse!! Her son Ryan is 15 and gawky – not his fault – and completely under his Mummy’s shadow. She is domineering and yet vacuous. She tries to take over all conversations and treats poor Ryan like a child of 6. Bearing in mind he is 15 years old, he is only allowed a fizzy drink once a week!! Most kids his age are out getting drunk or stoned more often than that!!
I went down to see the horses and riders ship out on their ride this morning, it’s such a shame I couldn’t join them. It is great to watch them in the paddock, jostling each other and play fighting. Being stallions and geldings with no mares they are always trying to change the pecking order.
I sat in the sun and read a book this morning – it was so peaceful. There are a lot of people around, not on the ranch, but families who have come out of Mexico City for an Easter picnic. They seem to gather around the waterfalls and are a real extended family affair.
I think there may have been problems in the past with animals disappearing because the puppies were all brought up to the courtyard outside my room for safe keeping. And along with 8 puppies comes 8 lots of pooh and wee!!. There was dog pooh everywhere!! They cleared it up as often as possible but it was replaced as soon as! They also dug up the flower bed, then exhausted they all slept on top of each other under one of the tables, a mountain of soft wriggly fur!!
Dinner this evening was a somewhat strained affair. Due to the most part to Julie who is soooo annoying. I thought it was just me but mild mannered Jane has confirmed that she was also teed off with her.
Went to my room after dinner, the clocks change here in Mexico tonight, and found I had an
uninvited guest! There was a chunky 8” long lizard sat on my window. My windows don’t open directly outside as there is a fly screen, so I have no idea how it got in, maybe when they came in and made up the room. I wasn’t keen on him spending the night with me and also wasn’t sure if I should touch him in case there was some kind of irritant on his skin. So I gathered him up in my
flannel, he went stiff as a board – probably a survival thing – and I popped him outside. Good job he didn’t shed his tail, I don’t think I would have known what to do with that!!
There is also supposed to be a resident frog in my shower but I haven't been able to spot him yet. I seem to be getting along with the wildlife quite well, especially evicting them from my room!
