After our 12 hour, really uncomfortable bus ride we got off at Hue and stayed for two nights, we didn't particular rate this town, too many pushy motorbike taxis and cyclo guys, one guy followed us around for over an hour as we walked trying to get us to get in!!!. We did a river boat ride on the perfume river and saw some tombs, some nice scenic views and had some lunch on the boat, all for one pound. After Hue we came to Hoi An, which was a nicer bus journey, only 6 hours and we stopped for a toilet break in what can only be described out here as 1st class motorway services, they had their own beach and restaurant. Hoi An has a very beautiful old town with buildings dating back to the 17th century. It has the oldest house in Vietnam whch we visited and took photos and met some members of the 7th generation of the family who live there. This is also the hottest place we have visited up to now, today it is 37 degrees and just too hot to walk for longer than 5 minutes. Luckily our hotel supplies free bikes which we have used every day since arriving. We went to see a traditional cultural music show - which was good and we have toured My Son today which is a mini version of Ankor Wat however, it predates it by 7 centuries and was worth the visit, however part of it had been destroyed during the war. We are getting on the bus for another overnighter this evening to Nah Trang. Oh Joy. Thanks for all Jays birthdays messages and other emails, great to hear from you uni lot. Joanne glad you enjoyed Derek, Sall keep meaning to say the St Christophers is keeping us both safe and well.
