Day 23
Got the boat to Koh Samui today, suprise suprise it was raining again. Its almost as if Koh Phangan knew it was full moon the other night and didn't rain because of it. Back to normal today on the Islands, apparently it gets worse than this next month! We are staying in a a place called 'Lamai' in Samui, its about a 20 minute drive from 'Chaweng'the more poplular/ touristy part of the island. Staying further out is better for us because its cheaper to eat and stay. Had a walk to the beach and there are some lovely hotels here, we're paying 500 baht for our room, so can imagine they were paying alot more than that.
Having said Chaweng was more expnsive we did take a bus into Chaweng for dinner and to do a bit of exploring, reminded us a little bit like Phuket! Got back into Lamai about 9.30 after a really nice dinner and decided to finish a lovely night off with a Thai foot massage, soo good and soo relaxed now :) 1 hour cost 200 Baht (just over £4).
Day 24
Raining Raining Raining... the Moonsoon rain is in full swing in Samui, waited around most this morning for the rain to die down but ended up having to dash out in it because we needed to book our travel to Malaysia. The streets we're running like rivers in some places. Did eventually book our travel to Malaysia and told the travel agent we hadn't seen much of Samui due to the rain. Trustingly she let us use her Moped for the day as the rain was clearing up. We drove all over... We had seen signs to waterfalls earlier in our stay and decided to follow them to take a look. When we arrived there we discovered a type of nature reserve/ Animal park. The park was quite good, we saw Elephants and one of the guys called us over to see them, Lauren sat on the Elephant while Jason got a kiss from one. Later we walked up to the waterfalls and realised how hot it was getting, so made our way back down after a few photo's. On the way back to Lamai we passed the grand rocks 'grandma and grandpa' rocks as they are refered to here. There is a myth in Samui history that a boat crewed by a man and woman crashed into the shaw and the bodies of the man and woman became part of the land (the rocks). The rocks are said to replicate body parts of men and women- we couldn't see it to be honest :)
Arranged to do a cooking class this evening, it was just what we wanted. There has been a few dishes that have become our favourites while we have been in Thailand so decided to learn how to cook those. Its amazing how simlple it is if you have all the ingredients. Will diffinatly be cooking them for you all when we are home.
