Day 49
We survived the 15 hour coach trip from Airlie and are now in Rainbow beach which means we have less than a week until Christmas. We are missing all the lovely snow at home and can't believe this year will probably be a white Christmas at home...the first one in how many years? We're not feeling the Christmas spirit just yet, but looking forward to getting to Brisbane to be with family and think some Christmas cheer will come our way there :)
There isn't much to do in Rainbow and it hasn't stopped raining since 11.30 this morning. You are all probably thinking 'ah whats a bit of rain when you are in Australia', but it really is heavy and you would get soaked to the bone if you were out in it. Thankfully there is a pool table and table tennis here so we've had a few games of that, we also managed to get to the supermarket before the rain started so we've had lots to eat.
Day 50
Yay no rain today! Enjoyed a long walk along the beach, and through the very small town of 'Cooloola'. We are staying in one of only 3 hostels in Rainbow beach, 'Frasers on Rainbow'. Most of the people who are here at the moment are going on a 2 night camp on Fraser Island. We decided not to do the tour to Fraser as we had done the Whitsundays sail and are also going to Alice Springs and Ayers Rock just after the new year, bu have heard some great stories about Fraser though so we'll be doing that next time ;)
Day 51
Left Rainbow for Noosa today, our bus left at 12.30 and we were here by 3.30. Noosa is fab, such a lovely place and a real holiday town. We had a wonder down to the beach and a nose around some of the shops, all of which have xmas sales which Lauren was particularly pleased about. Jason managed to find somewhere to get his hair cut at last, so looks less like an unwashed traveller and more like himself. We got a free dinner voucher at our hostel so we don't have to cook for ourselves tonight, which will be the first time since we arrived in oz :) We were also given a drinks voucher by the hostel so even better.
Day 52
Australia Zoo in the rain. Today has been the coldest day we have experienced since leaving England, the temperature was still in its 20's but because we spent all day outside in the zoo the rain had soaked us through. Really enjoyed Australia Zoo, we fed kangaroos, saw the Crock's eat dinner and watched a few shows- Tigers play time was the best :)
We are going to Brisbane tomorrow to spend Christmas with Family-let the celebrations begin.
