Today was our final breakfast as a group, as the tour officially ended. Our guides were all from Zimbabwe, so there offered us a lift across the border. The aim of today was to see Victoria Falls and from all accounts, the view was better from Zimbabwe. So, through another border we went, not quite as exciting as yesterday, but relatively straight forward. Left like kids on their first day of school, we said goodbye to the guides and watched our truck drive off into the distance. We were now a group of 8, all alone in a new country. We made our way to Vic Falls and entered the park. We walked to the various vantage points, gradually getting sprayed with more and more water. The walk was interesting, the path miandered along the edge for about a kilometre. It is had to describe the size of the falls, and especially at the moment at high water, the noise and force of the water is unbelievable. By the end of the walk we were drenched, like we had been standing in a heavy downpour for an hour. Thank god for Columbia quick dry clothes! After leaving the falls we walked to the Victoria Falls Hotel. This encompassed everything you imagine about colonial Africa. A grand building with stuffed animals everywhere, and a concierge at the doorway in a full safari suit. We had lunch here, sitting out on the terrace overlooking the Vic Falls Bridge. From here we headed to the local market and attempted the local sport of bartering. Jarrod, always out for a deal jumped straight in and managed to haggle on a few souvenirs (even our travel teddy, Eddie and Jarrod's shirt were fair game). Exhausted after this, we tipped our local tourism policeman, who had invited himself to be our guide and said goodbye to Pete, who was leaving the group here to continue his travels. We headed back across the bridge to the border, stopping briefly to take some photos and watch the idiots bungy jumping off the bridge. Sick at the thought of this, we moved on and crossed back into Zambia before haggling for a taxi to get back to camp. This started at US$10 per person and we managed to get it down to US$10 for the whole taxi. Back at camp we checked into our own accommodation, a real upgrade (the tent had a concrete base and two beds!!!) and helped the others in our group find their new guide and get sorted. By 8pm we were ready for bed as it was a big day!
