After surviving our first night camping we packed up and headed off early from Highlanders Campsite. We were driving most of the morning, with only a brief stop for supplies at Springbok, before our first border crossing at Orange River, from South Africa into Namibia. This seemed very easy, the officials were happy to chat and stamped our passports without any problems. We were told later that normally it takes much longer and is often more difficult. From here we made it to our campsite, on the banks of the Orange River. The river is currently in flood, so some of the campsite was under water, but overall a very picturesque place. We started to feel the heat by the time we set up, so hit the pool to cool down. We relaxed the afternoon away, getting to know the others on our trip. There is a good mix, one older Canadian lady, traveling on her own, another young couple from Broome on their way to start a working holiday in the UK, a girl from Zimbabwe, who was living in Perth, and then two other Australians, who have been living and working in the UK and are now figuring out what to do next! Our guides are locals and so far the driving has been great, food even better and we are learning lots about the areas. Early to bed, feeling a bit drained from the heat.
