After camping and a leisurely morning at Orange River on the Namibian border we set off to Fish River Canyon. Our journey was short-lived when our truck broke down. Luckily after a short delay of about 3 hours we were on the road. We drove straight through, arriving at Fish River Canyon at about 1730. We quickly set up camp and headed to the canyon so we could watch the sunset. The Canyon is one of the biggest in the world, over 27km across at the widest point and 550m deep. Needless to say it is spectacular and we walked along the ridge to a viewing area and shared a cold beer with the other guys on the tour. After a long day in real dessert heat we were hungry and tired so headed back to camp after the sunset to get some well earned rest, not before Jarrod and Pete, one of the other guys in the group, had a quick dip in the pool. Ready for an early start and a big day on the road....
