Coober Pedy, South Australia

This morning we hopped on a tour bus and visited lots of interesting sites in Coober Pedy - an underground Church, a dirt golf course, dugout houses in the hills and an underground mine.  We learnt about the water treatment plant.  In the afternoon we noodled for some opals and had a little bit of luck in finding a few small ones.

We packed up early and headed off to Coober Pedy 540km down the road with a few small towns in between.  We saw lots of long trains. The most unusual thing about today was that we had a swim in a pool inside a water tank.

In the morning we went to the Arid Gardens and the Flinders lookout, and then onto the Water Tower to have a look over the town. After lunch we played air hockey in the games room. The car had a wash today.

Off to Port Augusta, not one of Dad and Mum's favourite sites but we are going here so we can head off to Coober Pedy in a day or two. We had a look at the Wadlata Outback Centre which was great.

We went for a 8km hike to Sugar Gum lookout and back for a restful afternoon at our campsite, where Mum, Ruby and Fraser spent some time carting water to fill our van’s water tank.
