Today we travelled to Denmark about 50 km west of Albany. It's a nice town and we are staying about 8 km south at Ocean Beach. We enjoyed a boogie board in the surf after we set up but couldn't find Princess Mary. Perhaps she's away for the weekend?

An early start to drive about 90 km north to the Stirling Ranges and our biggest hiking challenge so far - getting to the top of Bluff Knoll which experiences snow each year and is 1,095 metres above sea level. We lost count of the number of steps but after a couple of hours made it to the top and enjoyed lunch. The walk was about 6 km return but involved a climb of over 500 metres. We enjoyed a swim in the pool when we returned to Albany.

Today we did another trip from Albany to a historic whaling station nearby called Whale World which is the former Cheynes Whaling station turned into a museum. We got our tickets and then waited for the tour to begin of the whaling station. First the lady gave us a audio to listen to about how they used catch the whales and use them. Next we went into lots of different parts of the station including a shed that had been turned into a mueseum of three whale skelet...

Today we left Albany for the the Porongurups which is a series of mountains near the town of Porongurup. We chose to walk up a mountain called Castle Rock which at the top of it had a granite sky walk. The skywalk was basically a boardwalk over looking the Porongurups. But to get to that point you had to climb up the mountain then up a 7 metre ladder {which is what the picture is of} to get to the boardwalk which hangs out over a 50 metre drop. A sunnier day which began with bacon and eggs and some schoolwork. Mum and I went shopping while Fraser and Dad went birdwatching around Lake Sepping (they now have 100 species recorded for the trip). After lunch we went kayaking, swimming and fishing in nearby Emily Cove which was very relaxing. T-bone and sausages for dinner:-(
