Our first full day at Hastings Point and although quite windy the surf didn't disappoint. No offshore reef or islands to calm the swells so all's well (joke from Dad). We even took time to immerse ourselves in a local history lesson!

Time to head south and before we knew it we were in New South Wales. After a bit of searching we found the border in Coolangatta - Tweed Heads and stood either side as it runs down Boundary Street. Quite different to all our previous border crossings. The good news is the beaches seemed to instantly have better surf so we are looking forward to plenty of waves in the weeks ahead.

A hot day forecast (35 degrees) so we headed for the coast and enjoyed a swim at Redcliffe which had good ocean views towards North Stradbroke Island. Not the best surf but OK to cool off in and Dad was excited by the fuel price we found on the way back. Take 4 cents off that and you can just imagine.

Today we drove north across the river and parked the car near the Hamilton North Shore Pier. From here we caught the river cat ferry service into South Bank where we enjoyed a swim in the artificial lagoon/beach. It was a hot day so the beach was very popular. We returned to the car on another river cat and then settled in to enjoy the tastes on offer at the Eat Street Markets. Yum. We started and finished with dessert so it was worth the visit!

An express bus to the city (we love the dedicated busways) and a short walk across the Brisbane River to visit the museum and science centre. We enjoyed the exhibits and had lots of fun in the disasters display and the challenges in the science centre. We even met a few locals!
