Another highlight in Katherine is to enjoy a swim in the hot springs just to the west of town. Water bubbles out of the ground at a pleasant 32 degrees and we enjoyed a couple of hours wallowing along with many other tourists and locals.

We arrive in Katherine early and settle into a caravan park about 5 km east of town. A couple of loads of washing, showers and we are ready to explore town which was busy. Famous for it's gorge, floods and WW2 history Katherine is a key centre for pastoralists and communities across Arnhem Land.

Hooray - after nearly 5 months in WA we cross the border into NT but Dad fails to take advantage of the the 130 km/h speed limit! A brief lunch stop at Timber Creek after losing an hour and a half crossing the border and we continue on to a quiet campsite at Flemington catle yards about 50 km west of Katherine.

After a morning walk to the Ord River Gorge we went fishing in the diversion channel but only caught some small silver cobbler (Ord River catfish) and very undersize barramundi. In the afternoon we boarded the Kimberley Durack for a sunset cruise across Lake Argyle. It was great fun and included a swim in the middle of the lake and somersaults off the roof into the water. A highlight of staying at Lake Argyle is free nightly entertainment (we saw a movie and listened to musicians) and the infinity pool. What a view but it was very cold. Brave Mum stayed in longer than anyone else we saw taking a dip.
