A second day exploring Litchfield saw us visit several waterfalls, some where we swam. The waters were safe as there is no room for crocs amonst all the people. Some waterfalls were very cold but the pools were nice to swim in.

We head north to Batchelor (Australia's tidiest town in 2000) and on to stay at Rum Jungle near Litchfield National Park. Here a particular species of termites align their mounds north-south to minimise heating during the day. These were very handy for early explorers. We enjoyed a free sausage sizzle at the caravan park for dinner. Being twins both Fraser and I lost a tooth today!

Our second day at Edith Falls and time for some exploring. Mum and I walked to the Upeer Pool where we enjoyed a swim and the waterfalls. Dad and Fraser walked to Long Pool and Sweetwater Pool which are on the extended walk to Katherine Gorge. To finish the day we had another paddle on our boogie boards in the plunge pool.

An early trip north to Edith Falls so we can secure a site at the campground which operates on a first in, first served basis. Success and we set up before enjoying a swim (no kayaks allowed) in the plunge pool near the camp. We took the boogie boards and had a lots of fun. After dinner the local ranger gave a talk about the cute and not so cute animals that live in the Nitmiluk National Park.

After enjoying a morning walk at Katherine Gorge we undertook a cultural experience at Top Didj gallery. Our afternoon with Manuel (a local from Bulman country and member of the Dalabon tribe) was fantastic as we listened to stories of how he grew up in the bush. We all made some traditional artwork, Mum lit a fire using just sticks and Dad successfully speared a (fake) kangaroo using a spear and woomera. We ate well that night!
