Wednesday 21st September
We got up this morning and packed our bags and left a lot of stuff in the hotel room that we had been carrying around for ages. Bloody hell our bags are heavy. We went for coffe and croissants at our usual café and then walked back to the hotel to check out and leave our bags at reception. We ordered a taxi for 2.30pm and went for a walk to the Old Town where we had lunch. We walked back along the Boulevard des Anglaise and sat and watched the planes coming in to land at Cote de Azur airport which we would soon be flying out of to Paris.
Back at the hotel our taxi was waiting and we got all our bags on board and went out to the airport Terminal 2 was where we were leaving Nice from and once on board our aircraft we obviously missed our flight slot because we sat at the end of our flybridge for almost an hour before we had clearance to taxi out and take off. The flight over France was not that long and an hour and fifteen minutes later we touched down in Paris. We had to change terminals and got a bus to our new terminal. I queued up at the Cathay check in and it took 1 hour for me to get to the front of a very short queue. Jannie sat and waited but when I got to the check in bit they wanted to eyeball her from the passport. We checked on through immigration and then found b***** all places to eat at. This has got to be the most ancient international airport that I have been in. A real come down from the airport at Nice.
We had Croque Monsiers and a bottle of red wine and chatted and laughed with a retired couple who were French and were travelling to New Caledonia. They spoke no English and we spoke very little French!! Spoke with Lucu and Mike and got ready to board the Cathay flight to Hong Kong. We leave Paris at 11.00pm and get to Hong Kong at around 5.30pm tomorrow. Will be a long sleep I hope. We are now ready for home and our own beds and looking forward to seeing the kids. Love to all.
