Aaron McPhee was the young chap who introduced us to SQUID,we did all the paper work and checked the van out and he waved us off,I climbed in the front seat( great view from up here)foot on the clutch, no clutch!! it was automatic transmission jings,crivens and help ma boab!! or words to that effect. the depot was in the middle of Christchurch city so I was on a steep learning curve, I nailed my left foot to the floor, kept my left hand on the wheel,didn't shut my eyes but tried to look confident for Ali's sake. We headed out of town to our first campsite,what a beautiful place,the showers were like a first class hotel underfloor heating the lot, kitchens got everything you need and clean!!!

We stayed in Christchurch for two days,they call it the garden city,it is a lovely city, we took a punt along the river Avon,the last time I was on the river Avon was on a canal boat with Steve,Moira and William,we then went on the tram,it was an original which had been rescued from being a "chook shed". We then headed south to Timaru.
