From KL we went bak to Borneo as we weren't able to dive the last time we were there. Again, nothing is ever staright forward out here. To cut a long story short, it turned out that the dive company we had booked with weren't a dive a centre, but a travel agent. They had booked us in with another company, who when we asked to see their permits (its illegal if you don't have a permit when diving here), he refused to show us and told us to get out of his shop. Was all a bity dodgy, so we booked in with someone else. Unfortunaley, we couldn't go to sipidan, but we did dive at an island called Mabul. Just as good but different.
The accommodtion was cool. It was a massive chalet that sat on stilts on the water. This was split into hundres of rooms. We went for the double with hot water. A wise option after having to have cold showers after a dive in Koh Tao.
The scenery around here is fantastic as its all rainforest, and its by far the number 1 place to dive in S.E Asia. But the towns are like zombie towns, and you feel a bit unwanted turning up there. We couldn't fly back to KL until the evening, so we spent a whole day in Semporna's un-airconditioned airport with nothing to eat. The only café they had didn't have any food.
When we got back to KL, we trekked all the way to the bus station as we were going to spend the night at the airport. Sat there for ages. Realised we'd red the bus timetable wrong and there were no more buses until 3 in the morning. Headed back to the guest house. They had no rooms available. By this time it was midnight. So they let us sleep on the 'sofa' (seat from a car) in reception which bit us all night. Was probably infested with flees!
