We set off for the 250 km drive to Adelaide Wednesday morning, stopping off for lunch in a very small town -also on the Murray River- called Blanchetown. We found a cheap campsite just 5 kms outside the city centre and booked in for 3 nights to begin with.
The next day we got the bus into the city and got straight into the job hunting. It was a bit strange coming into a big city and going straight into looking for work, without even doing a bit of sightseeing like we had been use to.
We found the massive library on the North Terrace, which is littered with really beautiful buildings, from churches to museums. Typically, after using the library internet, we discovered a new job that had popped up on the harvest trail website. An orange picking job in Waikerie, a town we had driven through on the way to Adelaide. We called up straight away and instantly had a job strating the next morning. Both of us were completely shocked. After looking for so long for a fruit picking job, we found one just like that after a one minute phone call.
The rest of the day we spent having a look around Adelaide. We went to the art gallery and had a wander around the famous central market. We both agreed we quite liked Adelaide, it had a very relaxed vibe. But after only spending a day there we thought we'll probably come back to see it properly.
We left the campsite the next morning (after getting our money back paid for the extra night) and headed to Waikerie to start our life of orange picking.
