HHEELLLLOOO!
Happy Easter everyone!!!!
It's so nice to get on the internet and read all your messages. we will have to write properly later as we are currently literally sitting in a closet at a computer!!
We will give you a brief update now as it has been so long. When we wrote last time, we bid a gleeful farewell to Delhi, however Delhi had one kick left - I woke up with Delhi-belly, and James projectile vomited over breakfast (literally!) (... it's funny, you can laugh!) the breakfast staff didn't find it quite so funny! In our ill state we made it to the train station - not pleasurable and got the 3 hour train to Agra.
In Agra we stayed with Colonel Lamba and his wife. They are wonderful wonderful people. We stayed in the Mughal Room ... but it wasn't a room ... it was an apartment, a suite, a palace!! Separate living room just for us - need we say more?! The next morning we went to the Taj Mahal and it really is so beautiful - just wait until you see our pictures. Unfortunately I was still carrying that little bit of Delhi within me and was feeling very unwell. After the Taj we went back to the Colonel's house where they nursed us back to health with lovely tomato soup and crutons!
I (rois) was too unwell to travel the next day, so we stayed an extra night with the colonel. They were so great to us, and said that they saw us as family and wanted to see us well. They organised a car to take us to Jaipur (rather than the 6 hour train), and we arrived there Friday.
Jaipur is the pink city and we liked it a lot. When we arrived we went to an .. ITALIAN for dinner!!! Brilliant! Then we saw all the painted elephants as they had had a parade that day. We stayed with a lovely family again here. The next day was the Holi festival so everything was closed. But we didn't mind as we got to watch from our balcony as the Hindu families soaked each other with coloured water and bright coloured powders - it's the festival of colour! We would have been in trouble if we'd have gone out - they just love that white skin - so we watched from afar!
Got night train last night which was fine, but James was muchly bothered by the snoring from next door - "It sounded like a donkey, no, like someone shoveling gravel into a blender"! We arrived in Udaipur at 8 this morning and we are now waiting for our room to be ready. We've just had breakfast - James had a pancake!!
Udaipur looks lovely and we're looking forward to exploring. We are so much happier and healthier now - Delhi feels a long time ago! We will try to get on internet again later today / tomorrow to reply to everyone and upload photos. Thank you so much for your messages - we get so excited to read them!!
Until later ... xxxxxxxxxx
ps. Niamh, next stop: Jodphur !!
