One Day... in Pushkar
We hadn't planned on coming to Pushkar but whilst I was researching Chittor, our next destination, I realised there wasn't much to do there so we just took the train all the way to Ajmer and then an auto to Pushkar. James, like a good organiser, had booked us a room in Hotel Everest. We arrived quite late and we were told our room had been given away. All they had was a room the workers used with the hardest bed and a toilet situated in the reception where everyone can hear everything! The next day we got the deluxe room for a cheap price and it had a comfortable bed but we were woken at 6 by workers outside getting prep done for the restaurant. As you can imagine James was soon out there asking them to be quiet!
We only had a day and a half in Pushkar so we went to all the major sites. The lake with the ghats, Brahmin temple, which wasn't that fancy but, is a 'go to' place for Hindus and the temple on top of the hill for sunset. We also wandered to streets enjoying the usual hustle and bustle of an Indian town.
We met with Haylee and Kez in the evening for tea and saw their amazing hotel, possibly the nicest entrance I've seen in India (so far!). It is like we have known the girls for years and fell immediately back into a cascading conversation, flowing from one topic to the next with some hilarious anecdotes. My favourites (that are really best told by Kez and Haylee) was a pigeon pooping on Kez, a cow head butting Haylee, a visit from an English girl, taking turns to guard the thongs/flip flops, their Dad visiting London and their other sister lost in translation in China! My cheeks were hurting from laughing too much, they are the quite possibly the loveliest sisters ever to come out of Australia! We will see them next time we visit Oz and stay at their parents for at least 29 days!
