After some advice from the ever wise Kiwi we headed back to CC (again!) via Arthurs Pass, on the promise that we will head back up North via Lewis Pass. Arthurs Pass was pretty spectacular but we will hold judgement on our best pass until we see them all. We did a few more walks and settled down for the evening to rest up ready for embarking on a long 6 hour walk tomorrow. After a slight delay on directions to the walk we got going and set a good pace with enough time for a few stops and lots of photos. We picked up a hitch hiker and dropped them at the village but had to let down two crazy guys who had created a dance routine in the attempt of catching a ride! We got rewarded with a returned favour of hitch hiking when we went on another walk the next day. We thought it was only a 2 hour return but it turned out we were on the wrong track and just walked all the way up to a ski resort! We were already tired from the previous day but a lovely man who worked on maintaining the resort dropped us back to Monique to save us struggling back down the hill! On our way back into CC we drove past one of the places where The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was filmed, we walked around calling to Aslan and when there was a no show we climbed over some more rocks to make the most of the outdoors before CC.
