Well this post is at the end of our coastal retreat and now it's time to head inland. We have been living the fat holiday life and we're ready now to soak in some culture...so we're heading up to Ubud in the centre of the island. It has been a nice slow introduction into the heat and food and pace... But when it comes down to it we need to pace our finances as well. We are little cut off down here on the Bukit peninsula- walking distance wise anyway. In the city of Ubud we will have access to markets where we can buy our own food. All meals here have been eaten in the hotel restaurants or down on the beach. We will be able to buy bigger jugs of water. And we will hopefully find somewhere to stay for less than $15/night (as opposed to $45 here). The place we're heading first tho *will* have a pool - something we've found essential in entertaining Abbey. In Abbey news - she has made a new friend - 9yr old Anna from France. They play in the pool together and don't understand a lick of what each other is saying. It's delightful to watch. They have a date to play together in the morning...for which Abbey has been asking me how to say some things in French. It is painful trying to extract the French words from deep in my brain - feeling as tho I am a bad Canadian. All those years of French! Still somehow, I can make myself understood.
We will miss this place - especially our little bungalow. But other adventures await :)
