Today we planned our whole day in advance so that we could fit in as much as possible in a small amount of time. We started off with breakfast and a quick trip to the inet cafe. We booked our spot on a canal cruise and toured around Amsterdam for an hour. It was an amazing tour as we discovered the secrets of Amsterdam along the canals. The towns are so beautiful with the apartments lining the water (as shown in the picture). I was able to take some beautiful fotos so I cant wait to find somewhere to upload them.
We had a quick bite to eat and the most delicious hot chocolate and took a photo outside the ´I AMsterdam´sign. Next was the Rembrandt Dungeon. This was linked to Madame Tassauds so we decided to do both. This was a haunted tour showing the bad history of Amsterdam. It was chillingly scary and went for quite a while. They were real actors telling the story and jumping out at you. I got used to it for a little while towards the end and tried to join in the fun by scaring shaz... I dont think she appreciated it. There was a mini rollercoaster at the end which I loved but didnt realise there would be a camera so my foto was pretty bad. We bought the fotos so we could bring them home.
We were going to go on a bike tour at 2pm but we were pretty tired so we decided to try the House of Bols which was a museum about cocktails and Genever. We realised we needed to get the tram there and managed to not only incorrectly use our ticket but hop on the wrong tram. We arrived there eventually.
It was a great place. You could smell all the different flavours of liquer, make your own video of yourself as a bar tender and choose a cocktail for them to make you at the end. We were also allowed to try the individual shots of our cocktail after but it was way too alcoholic and decided not to.
We had a quick nap before racing to Amsterdam Central with a pizza in hand to meet up with the Red Light District Tour. Our guide was Australian... you can pick them from a mile away. We were walked through the red light streets of Amsterdam seeing MANY sex shops as well as the prostitutes in the window. We learnt the history of how it all started and how it still exists today. Sorry, no photos were allowed here. The end of the tour was at our hostel, St CHistophers Inn. We were given two shots of Jager before we had a few more drinks and started the Aussie table where there was someone from nearly every state in Aus!
