Greetings one and all!
We've currently entered our third and final state of Australia...Queensland!
After leaving Sydney we headed to Byron Bay and spent most of our time surfing. I'm not too bad now and by the time we left I was catching the wave every time! I do however have a massive bruise on my thigh from surfboard collision! However it could have been worse...I could have been eaten by a shark! We also got up really early one morning and watched the sun come up over Byron Bay which was just beautiful. I'd like to be able to tell you that we walked to Cape Byron, the most easterly point of Australia to watch this sunrise however after looking at the map we realised we were in the wrong place and did not have time to get round the massive rock to get to where we wanted to be! However it was a splendid view all the same and well worth getting up at am for.
Whilst in Byron we took a day trip out to Nimbin which is the drug haven of Australia. I tiny village in which old ladies try to sell you cookies and cake baked with enough drugs to comatose you for the rest of the week. Hating drugs as much as I do I didn't really like Nimbin that much and was livid when three stoners ate too many cookies and proceeded to turn white and throw up on the way home...if there's one thing I hate more than drugs it's sick! However we did stop at an amazing waterfall and then went to see a crazy guy who grows amazing fruit and I tasted my first custard apple which was very good.
After Byron we moved up the coast to Surfers Paradise. The weather started to brighten up and we actually managed to lay on the beach for abit of a sunbathe! Surfers was good, a little touristy, think Blackpool but with better weather and amazing beaches. We also went to Dreamworld which is a theme park and home of the Australian Big Brother house (which we have slightly got sucked into!...Go Rory!).
We then moved up to Brisbane which is beautiful and so much better than I expected. I was told it was an industrial site but I really loved it. It has a man made beach and gorgeous botanical gardens. We hired bikes again and cycled around the city to see as much as possible and I loved the southbank which is lined with cafes and restaurants. We left Brissy this morning and are currently in Noosa where it has continued to rain! We're going to Steve Urwin's Australia Zoo tomorrow and then have a three day canoeing trip along the Nossa river.
Hope you're all well, will email again when we have more to tell!
Missing you all very much,
love Jade and Shanade XXX
