Chiang Mai Day 3 (17.06.2012). Today we awoke bright and early from a sleepless night (can't wait for the aircon in our next place) - backpack on we headed to school. Thai cooking school that is! Our cooking school was called Asia Scenic Cooking school. I couldn't recommend them enough.
We had great fun. First of all we had a tour of their herb garden and tried some different herbs before heading to the local food markets to look at the ingredients. On return to the school we got to work.
We made some delicious dishes which I hope to recreate at home. Thai food is so yummy. I sure will miss it. My dishes were: Pad Thai, spring rolls, and Panang curry. All dishes were successful I might add. We were also shown how to make some other star Thai dishes. We left with a recipe book so we can recreate our masterpieces.
Following the class at 14:00 we headed for the Mae Ping River Cruise where we left the city behind on a long boat and headed for more rural areas. We stopped off at a farmer's house where we were given a tour, sampled the fruit and were shown how rice is made. What a relaxing afternoon.
We have now arrived back at our hostel and are packing ready for our next stop. Tomorrow we will be on a 5 hour bus to Sukhothai where we will be staying two nights. Before then we are checking out the Sunday Walking Street Market tonight.
