Coober Pedy to Adelaide (30.07.2012): Bracing ourselves for the longest drive we will endure during our campervan trip, we showered and quickly shoved our clothes in the washer before setting off from Riba's. Destination Adelaide: 845km away, an estimated 9 hour drive.
Our roadside friends today were emus - funny old birds. As we got closer to Adelaide the scenery changed from barren desert to green fields and lakes.
We made a stop for lunch at Woomera which sits on the largest land-based missile and rocket range in the world. We called at the visitor centre which told us more about the atomic bomb testing that used to go on here along with operations the NASA deep tracking station. Adam got to take photos of rockets anyhow.
We travelled through Port Augusta before calling it a day 90km outside Adelaide at a place called Dublin. We had a pretty good go of it and thought we might not be able to find somewhere free to camp in Adelaide. Moreover, we are not ready to leave our precious Stuarts Highway yet.
No toilets again, booo.
Happy Birthday Mum!
