Adelaide (31.07.2012): We drove into South Australia's capital by around 9am. What busy roads!! We didn't know how to cope after the lovely single lane empty road that has taken us all the way from Darwin. It took us till around 10am for us find somewhere to park. All the parking is multi-storey and our lovely campervan won't fit. We had to park in the back of beyond in the end but managed to walk into the centre fairly quickly.

Now that we are no longer in the middle of nowhere food and petrol are a hell of a lot cheaper, thankfully! We were definitely paying for the costs of transportation. Petrol is a whole dollar cheaper a litre compared to what we paid in the most remote places in the outback.

Adelaide is a really nice city with a great feel to it. We mainly wondered around for the day taking in the sights. We did check out the South Australia Museum, mainly because it was in the book as having a good rock and fossil section!

We meandered along the main shopping streets and found a wonderful old fashioned arcade reminding me of the ones in Cardiff. We also visited the central market which had food from all over the world. Adam was feeling nostalgic and had to have rice… We do miss the food of Asia.

All in all a great day in the city. We did feel like lost ants though. It was so strange to be in a big city again after spending so long in the outback.

At around 6pm we headed for our camper and hit the roads to give us some headway tomorrow. We drove 100km towards our next destination: Mount Gambier. The warning signs at the side of the road this time were to watch out for koalas. Thankfully we didn't see any. I don't want my first sighting of a koala to be on the road.

We have just pulled up in a little rest area (free, no toilets again), and have got the teas on. I had to purchase a jumper today (a 10 dollar, £7, grandad jumper which I love), I am wrapped up in it now and the fleece blanket I got in Alice Springs. Brrrr.
