Saturday 20th saw us head off to the Mall for a bit of retail therapy. We were looking for a pair of shoes for Euge but managed to buy everything but!! It was a nice way to spend the morning even if you are on a budget! We headed off for dinner this evening with Jacqui's Uncle Peter and Anica, Tony and Adele Hesp and Avrylle Fox. We went to a restaurant in Howick called the Afton which is exceptional value. A three course meal costs R70 per person with choices such as smoked salmon, steak calamari and cakes. That's about 5 squid a head!! Value you can't even beat in West Bromwich.
The 21st saw a days worth of planning for our next trip away. We are heading off to the Blyde River canyon, Pilgrim's Rest, Kruger National Park and a drive back through Swaziland. We have booked our accommodation and the Lewis/McCluskey clan are off on Thursday. It is a 7 hour drive up the country which is a bit of a hike!!!
January 22nd was a very busy day. Jacqui and Euge spent the morning walking around Pietermaritzburg - the capital of KwaZulu Natal (the place Jacqui was born). Had a nice wander around the shops and a look in a great art gallery. We are not sure how we managed to get in because we had been in there for 3/4 hour and were asked what we were doing? Apparently the gallery is closed on a Monday!!! Whoops!!
Breaking News- we have just seen the McNaught Comet over Howick. It was amazing - the sky was so clear that you could see the tail of the comet for miles. I am told billions of miles. Now that has to go down in history on our trip as neither of us has ever seen a comet before
