Our bus picked us up at 8 am this morning and our tour leader Jose was not very well so off we went with Roberto and his driver. Neither Neen or I had the best nights sleep as our room was like the artic!! Neen slept in the sleeping bag!!!We got to see Cusco from the hill above it and it is surrounded by large mountains. We then headed down towards the Sacred valley which is a lush agricultural region. We visited a project supported by GAP our tour company which involves traditional weaving. I think everyone bought something as they were so nice. We got to feed the Lama's and see the process they use from start to finish. We then headed off to the Pisac ruins - were we walked around for 1 hour and this was the first chance to look at how the Inca's built their towns in on the hills with terraces. Very impressive. We then headed into Pisac markets - where we saw a local wedding which was nice. We then made a few purchases Not sure where we will fit them all!!! We then went off for a lovely Buffet lunch and headed off to Ollantaytambo. The town and fortress of Ollantaytambo are strategically situated overlooking the beautiful Urubamba River Valley. This major ruin site is known as the best surviving example of Inca urban planning and engineering. We walked around it for 1 hour with Roberto our very knowledgeable guide. He knows so much that he brings the ruins alive. That night we had a pretty poor meal but never mind we all wanted to get to bed. Speaking of which our beds in our room where made of stone!!! Nice
