We had an amazing breakfast at the hotel prepared by a very eager and friendly host before leaving for the day. It was on the bus immediately after and off to visit the renowned Temple of the Tooth. This temple was constructed to house one of Buddha's teeth that were removed before he was cremated. The tooth is significant in that it had all of Buddha's wisdom passed through it while he was alive and so it is revered all over the world by Buddhists. The temple was a bit hard to access as we were in shorts and t-shirts, something that is not allowed so the scarves were out and we were all wrapping up our ankles and knees to be able to get in. After the temple it was off to see a wood carving demonstration followed by a silk demonstration. We then had lunch and went to a tea plantation where we got to see how tea is harvested and processed before being sold to buyers in Colombo. That night was a chilly one in the hills of Kandy but we slept well.
