October has been a very busy month! We've found ourselves settling in well at the school and starting to learn all of the kids' names (which has been a major challenge!). We are up every day quite early as school starts at 7:30 and we typically aren't home until about 4:30 or 5:00 so we put in some long days. Overall, the school is a great place to work and the kids have been very cute and eager to learn from us.
Layla has settled in well at school and has made some really good friends like Shahzadi, Zara, Ishraq, Fatima to name a few. She is taking arabic classes and is expanding her vocabulary much faster than Leanne or I. She tried out and made the bowling team at school which she is really happy about and is taking First Aid as an After-School-Activity with some of her friends.
We had a great Thanksgiving with all of the staff from the school meeting at a local farm (in the city) to have turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, and many other amazing dishes. There was even a cooler full of beer! It was great to still celebrate thanksgiving so far from home.
We made many trips on the weekends (which were always too short). We visited beaches and had a great weekend at the Millenium Resort with the other Internations people from Muscat. It has been nice to stick close to home and discover all of the beauty that Muscat and Oman have to offer.
We are looking forward now to our November break (4 day weekend for the Sultan's Birthday) where we may head to Dubai or somewhere else far away.
